Oh the last couple of weeks are horrible. I am so ready to be done with this. Heartburn, not sleeping at night, back pain, tiredness and the list can go on. I have two more weeks until my doctor will enduce me (that is one thing about him that I like, he will enduce me at 39 weeks because I am measuring big). Hang in there. I can' wait to meet your little guy either. He is going to be cute. I just know it.

Hey April. Just stopped by to see if anything had changed. Liam was a 9 + pounder and it was not as bad as the first. But...I was a John Muir patient. My doctor actually broke my water and set me up with an epidural before I even dilated. She was awesome! Good luck. You could try all the stuff that starts it...castor oil, etc.

My husband works at Kaiser Walnut Creek, and he said that Karen Simpson is good and so is Melanie Stone. He said that both of them are really compassionate and great with their patients. So you might want to talk to them and see what you think. I guess you would have to tranzfer your care to one of them though, cause Kaiser won't let you see one doctor and then be delivered by another. I'm sorry it's been so crappy. I hate Kaiser and hope we don't have any kids while I have them. I liked our Sutter insurance when I could pick who I wanted.
Hoefully your delivery will be way different than your first. Mine was. With Hailey I was induced and I was in labor for 2 days, and didn't progress til 1 hour before she was born. She was 8 lb. 9 oz. Brooklyn was a breeze, and she was 9 lb. 11 oz. Easy labor and out in 3 pushes. Amelia was the same way. If I had based labor off of having Hailey I probably would never want more kids, but it was such a awful experience, I figured it had to be a fluke. Every delivery is different, but it (usually) gets a whole lot better. The first time you and your body don't really know what they are doing.
Sorry for the novel. :)

April, well unlike the others who have commented on this subject, I have never been in labor, nor will I, however I agree with them all, lie your head off about the pain. The more pain they think you are in the more help they will give you. Laura is in a ton a pain right now and we are hoping to go 2 weeks early. Which is still 4 weeks away.
But either way, good luck, at least you have nick there to help....or is he hindering?

April, my baby #2 was a much better delivery too. I'm so sorry about Kaiser and your lame Dr. Seriously it is hit and miss with them! What is his name so I know for the future not to go with him?!? Good luck... you know what you want so just demand it. People usually obey a bossy, laboring woman. And definitely tell them you are suffering way more than you are so they can help you sooner!

I agree with you- Kaiser bugs. I wish I would have chosen john muir. but! when I had ellie- the staff there to deliver me was awesome. so positive and so helpful. I highly recommend requesting a midwife... Kaiser will honor either way you want (MD or midwife & MD). I loved mine. She really helped me not to tear.

Also- I totally agree with Camelia. I was terrified to delivery the second time and it was, compared to the first, a piece of cake. We went home the next day because I was feeling great and now when I thinking of having babies- I am excited. It was (almost) fun.

They told me ellie would be huge (same math as you have I think) and she was a chunk- but not over 9 pounds.

good luck! it will be wonderful- and so much better the delivery #1. can't wait to see pictures.

Thanks Camelia, I hope you are right. I am feeling better once you told me that. Hopefully I am just full of amniotic fluid and have a small baby. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Oh April, sorry to say that some Doctors do not really know what they are talking about. For my both babies, I measured big and they thought I would have huge babies. While my babies were not small but they were 8 and 7 pounds so all was well. Sometimes your stomach is bigger because you carry a lot of fluid and it does not always mean that the baby is going to be huge.
I did not believe it but when I was in labor with my second child, everything was tons easier. I guess my body knew what to do. I had a really hard first labor ( long story) but the second one was nothing comparing to the first. And for epidural, ask for it the second you get to the hospital. And when they ask from 1-10 how bad you are hurting, tell them couple of numbers more than you do.
Good luck with everything. We are on the same boat and I am scared too even though I have been there and done that.
